FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Okinawan Rengokai World Traditional Karate /
Kobudo Championships Results
Atlanta, Georgia - August 2001
August 19, 2001
The Rising Sun Karate Club is proud to announce that one
of its members, 14 year old
Jason Boivin enjoyed much
success in Atlanta. As a member of Team Canada he
represented his country with distinction. As you know
Jason won his place on Team Canada at trials held in
Ottawa on April 21 and 22, 2001 to represent his country
at the
Okinawan Rengokai World Traditional Karate / Kobudo
Championships. The 2001 Championships was held in
Atlanta Georgia from August 7 to 11, 2001.
The first time that the competition was held outside of
Okinawa. The next tournament will be held in 2003 in
Okinawa.
Jason devoted many hours of study in the Goju Ryu style
of Karate since the end of February 2001. He trained on
average 4 hours a day 7 days a week to prepare for this
prestigious tournament. His hard work and dedication was
not only an inspiration but prepared him well for Atlanta.
I am proud to announce that Jason placed 9th in Kobudo
(Weapons - Bo), 4th in Kumite (sparring) and 1st in
Kata (forms) in his age division. I wish to offer my
hearth felt congratulations to Sensei
Jason Boivin
for his outstanding accomplishments. He has
surpassed all my expectations and I am very proud
of him.
The Rising Sun Karate Club held a number of fund-raising
events and canvassed local businesses in an effort to
raise funds to help defray Jasons expenses. We would
like to take this opportunity to thank all those who made
the trip to Atlanta possible by their support.
Sincerely,
Sensei Andr Durocher
President and Head Instructor
Rising Sun Karate Club
